Jose has successfully earned every year his American Red Cross Certification in CPR, AED, First Aid, Safety training and Lifeguard Training Instructor in the United States. He has 25 years of experience.
Jose has more than 35 years’ experience in the Aquatics Industry. He has taught swimming in New York City, California and now in South America.
He started his Aquatics career in New York City as a Beach lifeguard where he worked at Orchard Beach for five years.
Continued his Aquatic career in Southern California where through the next 15 years as a Los Angeles County Lifeguard, a Swimming Coach and Swimming Instructor and as an Aqua Aerobics Instructor.
While in California Jose had the opportunity to work with, four time’s Olympic gold medalist in 200m backstroke, Lenny Krayzelburg. There he gained the experience of team work and techniques development. Jose is a leader through example and earned the respect of his peers through his work ethics. Jose Ruiz founded South Bay Swim School, which was established in Southern California and is now in Ambato, Ecuador in South America.
It has been estimated that Jose Ruiz has taught more than 45,000 students of all ages how to swim.
Jose and his wife Lorena are proud members of the United States Swim School Association; and are also members of World Aquatics Baby and Children Network. Where once a year they go to North America or Europe to update their knowledge in the Aquatic industry to offer proven swim techniques that are used around the globe to use in their Swimming school to benefit their clients.
Jose Ruiz has been an asset to the community, building moral and character by teaching students how to be safe in the water even if they are afraid of the water, teaching them how to swim. He provides a fun, loving, positive learning environment in every class.

Lorena studied in Ecuador, became president of the student association in her University graduated with a B.A in Special Education. After she graduated she move to Europe and became part of a student exchange program in Germany where she learned about motor development for children and adults, aquatic therapy for pregnant women, early aquatic therapy for babies, infants with and without special needs, child development and psychology.
Lorena has over 23 years’ experience working with babies, infants, children and adults with and without special needs.
Since 1994 Lorena has traveled to many countries in South America, Caribbean, Europe and the U.S. She has always been open to positive change and personal growth. She enjoys getting to know different cultures. Lorena speaks 5 languages which include: Spanish, English, German, Portuguese, and Sign Language,
Lorena always pursued the idea of owning a business that could provide an exceptional service to her clients that would make a difference and be fulfilling in people’s lives.
